Why ZYPEEK for Automotive Applications
ZYPEEK delivers proven performance in critical automotive applications—from engine and e-drive systems to braking, transmission, and interior components. Its unique combination of wear resistance, self-lubrication, electrical insulation, high-temperature stability, low smoke emission, and processing flexibility makes it the material of choice for gears, bearings, seals, insulators, and retaining elements.
Non-enhanced PEEK achieves a elastic modulus of 3.6 GPa—far exceeding general plastics—while reinforced grades delivering even higher stiffness, approaching that of some metal alloys.
ZYPEEK operates continuously from -40°C to 260°C, maintaining excellent dimensional stability at temperatures up to 300°C for short-term exposure. Its inherent self-extinguishing properties achieve UL 94 V-0 rating without added flame retardants. PEEK exhibits the lowest smoke emission among engineering plastics. Its additional properties include chemical resistance, hydrolytic stability, high damping characteristics, and sustained mechanical strength and electrical insulation at elevated temperatures.
ZYPEEK combines stiffness with toughness for superior fatigue life. Even under cyclic loading and alternating stress, it matches the performance of engineered alloys—without their weight or corrosion susceptibility.
ZYPEEK maintains excellent dielectric properties across an extensive temperature range, with minimal dielectric loss even at high frequencies.
ZYPEEK exhibits outstanding sliding characteristics, particularly in modified and reinforced grades—ideal for component designs demanding low friction coefficients and exceptional wear life.
ZYPEEK can be readily converted into semi-finished or finished products through multiple processing techniques—including injection molding, extrusion, coating, compression molding, and additive manufacturing (3D printing).
The Future of Mobility and Automotive Materials
Fuel economy regulations, electrification, and global competition are driving vehicle design to weight-saving extremes—measured gram by gram. To meet 2035 CO₂ targets and the approximately 900 million vehicles set to roll off production lines worldwide over the next decade, automakers must reduce weight, enhance safety, and shorten assembly times—without adding cost. Our answer is advanced materials. For two decades, we have partnered with automotive manufacturers, replacing metals and conventional plastics in engines, battery systems, and components with our high-performance engineering polymers.
Our systems approach——lighter, chemically resistant, precision-moldable——is already proven on multiple vehicle platforms worldwide. Working alongside automotive manufacturers, we accelerate the journey from concept to road, enabling lower emissions, leaner manufacturing, and a clear route to next-generation mobility.
